Yogic traditions have long taught that being present and skillful in the moment is the key to living fully and without regret. While the 21st century brings new challenges, we can use our advanced technology and scientific understanding of the body to live in harmony with life---more than ever before. Join us in welcoming Desiree Rumbaugh to the Big island for a weekend of healing and empowering asana, lively application of yogic teachings and of course, laughter and love with our playful community. 

Cost is $45 per workshop or $200 for the whole weekend.  Please register early as space is limited. Payment is required in full at the time of registration.

With 30 years experience in alignment based Hatha Yoga including Iyengar and Anusara, Desiree Rumbaugh continues to evolve by studying with functional manual therapists, meditation teachers, and primal movement teachers. She loves to play hard while working seriously on details, so be prepared to practice being strong while simultaneously laughing.

 Friday: 2:30-5:00 Fearless After Fifty

Calling all yogis near or in the middle of their lives! You don't have to limit your asana practice. You can still do a very wide range of poses, you just need more knowledge about your body and how it works. Desiree is approaching age 60 and continues to keep her practice strong and vital. She has done this over a thirty year period with the help of personal attention from a pit crew of Physical Therapists and Functional Movement Specialists in addition to all of her yoga studies. It would be accurate to say she is now at her strongest and most healthy after having learned from experience. All ages are welcome to attend this class and get in on some of these secrets. It's never too late or too early to prepare for the future. 

Friday: 6-8:30 Hip Openers, Pranayama and Meditation

In this class you will be introduced to the actions that will heal and strengthen your body, especially your back and hips. This work will be continued and further explained throughout the weekend. Between Friday and Sunday your body, mind and heart will begin a process of transformation. 

Saturday: 10:30-1:00 Backbends

Learn how to support your entire spine and then create freedom through extension. Whether you are stiff or flexible, these teachings will help you improve your practice. You will feel taller and have more energy and your back will thank you for coming. 

Saturday: 2:30-5:00 Forward Bends and Twists

Rejuvenate your entire body and release stuck energy with these poses. Even if you have very stiff hamstrings, you will notice the difference these poses make and you will leave this class with a spring in your step.

Sunday: 10:00-12:30 Inversions and Arm Balances

Here's a little known secret: these poses, while challenging, are actually the antidote for text neck syndrome. The upper body strength you will gain from practicing safely will benefit you throughout your life. We will show you step by step how to increase your power and carry your own body weight.
