Sama is a Sanskrit word that translates as "balance," or "sameness." One becomes firmly established in sama by cultivating equanimity and one pointed concentration through the medium of postures, breathing exercises, and meditation.
This workshop will explore the concept of sameness through experiential practice of arm balances, inversions, and their preparatory postures and drills. Pranayama and kriya (cleansing practices) that work with the bandhas (physical/energetic locks), and meditation are also integral aspects of this workshop.
Prop usage to assist the body into more challenging poses as well as partner work will be explored to create and empower the practice.
